From accepted offer to first settled month

The Frankfurt arrival plan

A service path built around dependencies: secure a usable address, register it, connect work and household administration, then make room for a life.

Six to eight weeks before the job starts

Confirm which relocation tasks your employer actually handles. Ask HR about work-permission support, payroll documents, health-insurance evidence, temporary housing and whether your contract specifies a primary office. Keep immigration advice with the competent authority or a qualified lawyer.

Set a complete housing ceiling that includes base rent, service charges, heating assumptions, electricity and internet. Compare districts against the station nearest your office, not Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof by default. If you book temporary accommodation, obtain written confirmation that it permits Anmeldung and that a Wohnungsgeberbestätigung will be supplied.

The final week before travel

Carry essential documents securely and retain encrypted copies, but do not send identity scans to unverified housing contacts. Note your accommodation check-in instructions, employer contact, health cover for the travel period and a backup route from the airport.

Prepare for ordinary German rhythms: many shops close on Sunday, card acceptance varies, and official correspondence may arrive by post. A small amount of accessible cash and a clearly labelled mailbox solve surprisingly common first-week problems.

First 72 hours in Frankfurt

Inspect the accommodation and record existing damage when taking possession. Confirm your name is on the mailbox. Test the office journey at the time you will actually travel, including the walk at both ends.

Check the current City of Frankfurt instructions for residence registration and your appointment. Assemble only the documents officially requested. If your address or confirmation is not suitable, resolve that dependency rather than filling forms with uncertain information.

First two weeks

Complete Anmeldung when eligible and keep the resulting confirmation safe. Coordinate health-insurance status with payroll, watch for tax correspondence and choose banking arrangements that fit salary timing and identification requirements.

Understand the household broadcasting contribution rather than ignoring its letter; one household generally does not pay twice, but the responsible account must be clear. Arrange a German mobile number or plan if it makes landlord, delivery and office calls easier.

First month: beyond administration

Build repeatable routes: one commute backup, one grocery shop, one pharmacy and one place where you can spend an evening without paperwork. Learn the waste-separation arrangements for your building and introduce yourself to neighbours when the moment is natural.

Review the plan after your first salary and utility information. Your original rent and transport assumptions may need adjustment. Settlement is not a one-day finish line; it is the point at which ordinary weeks stop requiring constant research.

Where Service Vaulthub enters

Our Frankfurt settlement guidance turns this general sequence into a plan for your office, household, nationality-dependent questions and accommodation dates. We explain practical choices and point outward when legal or official advice is required.
